2 Firms Offer Rides Home for Drinkers and Their Cars

You’ve had too much to drink and know you should call for a ride home. But you can’t bear to be separated from your dependable four-wheeled friend, whether it turns heads or stomachs.
Towing companies in the Antelope and eastern San Fernando valleys are serving up an intoxicating idea. They are offering rides home to drinking drivers--and their cars--on Christmas Day, on Dec. 31 and on New Year’s Day.
The only requirements are that the cars be operable and that callers not ask to be taken to other parties or bars.
Antelope Valley Towing of Palmdale and Kim’s Auto Service of Glendale have joined 1,200 towing companies participating in the national campaign called TOWED, which stands for Towing Operators Working to Eliminate Drunk Driving.
Lancaster and Palmdale residents wanting service between 50th Street East and 50th Street West can call Antelope Valley Towing today, Dec. 25, Dec. 31 and Jan. 1. Anyone wishing to be towed beyond the boundaries will be charged $1 per mile.
Residents of La Crescenta, Tujunga, Sunland and Glendale who want the service can call Kim’s Auto Service and Towing, today through Jan. 1.
