PROMISES, PROMISES: It’s been a rough year for Charles Keating, awaiting a federal jury verdict since Monday and already serving a 10-year sentence for scandals at his Irvine-based Lincoln Savings & Loan. Customers were bilked of some $200 million. . . . Talk about good plans gone awry, here’s what a 1961 Lincoln ad told customers: “One of our responsibilities is to preserve the greatness of the name we bear. Another is to preserve the confidence which thousands of saving families have in Lincoln Savings.”
