Where There’s Firing There’s Heat

I think the citizens of Anaheim deserve a public explanation from the new City Council majority (Mayor Tom Daly, Councilmen Irv Pickler and Frank Feldhaus) for an action that deprived our city of one of its finest public servants.
The recent ouster of Bob Zemel from the Planning Commission was an outrage. Not only has Mr. Zemel been punished, but everyone who had grown to respect our city’s Planning Commission because of his independent presence has been punished as well.
Those of us who seek to take pride in our local government were very comfortable with Bob Zemel’s service to the city. Mr. Zemel was not only well-qualified for his position, but he was a problem-solver who got things done. We trusted his judgment and respected his decisions. He never politicized an issue or cast a vote that was questioned.
Where are the multitudes of residents dissatisfied with Bob Zemel’s service? I see only three arrogant and angry men on the City Council. Is that representative democracy in action?
