HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP : Quick Start Propels Royal to 80-51 Win

Royal High scored the first 11 points and rolled to an 80-51 Marmonte League victory over visiting Newbury Park on Saturday. Four Royal players scored in double figures, led by forwards Khamisi Thurman (18 points) and Eric Carlsen (12). Royal is 7-7, 2-1 in league play; Newbury Park fell to 0-3 in league play.
In other boys’ basketball games:
Simi Valley 74, Channel Islands 55--Craig Griffin scored 19 points and Nathan Simmons had 12 rebounds for the Pioneers (12-4, 3-1) in a Marmonte League game. Andre Lanns led Channel Islands (8-4, 0-3) with 19 points.
Providence 93, Villanova Prep 81--Barry Dabbaghian had 35 points for Providence (10-2) in a nonleague game.
GIRLS’ BASKETBALL
Thousand Oaks 75, Camarillo 25--Marion Jones scored 19 points and Erin Kelly and Jen Bockus each added 11 for the host Lancers (15-0, 3-0) in a Marmonte League game.
Newbury Park 45, Royal 26--Janim Halsey had eight points and seven rebounds, and Kara McKeown added eight points for the host Panthers (10-4, 2-1) in a Marmonte League game.
Westlake 55, Agoura 37--Tracy Young scored 15 for Westlake (8-7, 2-1) in a Marmonte League game.
BOYS’ SOCCER
St. Francis 2, Bishop Amat 2 (2 OTs)--Ben Miller scored the tying goal for the Golden Knights (8-1-2, 2-0-1) with 30 seconds to play in the second overtime of the Del Rey League match.
Buena 4, Rio Mesa 0--Buena’s Juan Melgoza scored three goals in a Channel League match.
