Smart & Final Inc. announced that Roger (Rocky) M. Laverty III, president and chief operating officer of Smart & Final Stores Corp., has also been appointed president and chief operating officer of the company’s parent company, Smart & Final Inc., in Santa Barbara.
Robert J. Emmons will continue as chairman and chief executive of Smart & Final Inc., passing on the responsibilities of the presidency to Laverty.
Joseph N. Cohen has been promoted to the newly created position of president and chief operating officer of film producer Largo Entertainment, where he will oversee all business and financial activities for the company.
Los Angeles-based Largo, whose films include “Used People,” is a joint venture between producer Lawrence Gordon and Japan’s JVC Entertainment.
Ron Oberman has been appointed senior vice president, talent development of MCA Records, Universal City.
Oberman comes to MCA from Columbia Records.
