Boys’ Basketball Game Rescheduled Because of Leaky Roof

The boys’ basketball game between Granada Hills and San Fernando highs scheduled to be played Friday was postponed until Monday because of repair work on the San Fernando gymnasium roof.
The game will be played at 4 p.m. Monday at Granada Hills.
The roof has leaked during recent rainstorms, causing the basketball floor to buckle.
The Granada Hills gym was unavailable Friday because of a girls’ game.
Members of the Chaminade High fencing team were honored by Los Angeles City Councilwoman Joy Picus last week at City Hall for winning the recent national high school championships.
Picus also cited team member Jeff Feinblatt for his 57th-place finish in the Junior World Cup in Budapest, Hungary, three weeks ago.
Representing Chaminade at City Hall were team members Dean Jacobberger, Roshan Jayasinghe, Travis Johansen, Chris Shubeck, Wes Waldron, Feinblatt and Coach Lawrence Calhoun.
The Cal Lutheran men’s basketball team has climbed to ninth in the National Assn. of Basketball Coaches NCAA Division III rankings.
Cal Lutheran was 10th last week, its previous high. Rowan (17-0), N.J., is ranked first.
Cleveland High alumni will play a team composed of L.A. firefighters in a benefit football game today at 5 p.m. at the campus field. Proceeds will got to the Cleveland football team.
