ANAHEIM — A chandelier at Disneyland’s newest attraction, ToonTown, dropped from the ceiling Monday, slightly injuring two of about 10 children playing in the area at the time, Disney officials said.
The incident happened about 11:20 a.m. in Goofy’s Bounce House, according to a scant press release prepared by Disney spokesman John McClintock. The chandelier apparently came loose and fell down onto the Bounce House’s padded and inflatable floor.
“Three of the about 10 children at the time were in the area where the chandelier fell, and all three were examined for injuries” by Disneyland’s first-aid personnel, according to the release. Two of them were treated for minor scratches and bruises before all three were released back into the park, the release stated.
The Bounce House was closed temporarily and later reopened after the chandelier was removed. A Disney spokesperson had no information about the size or construction of the chandelier.
ToonTown opened Jan. 26. The incident is being investigated by Disneyland officials.
