Parents Freed After 7 Children Die in Fire

DETROIT — A father, who was attempting to thaw a frozen water pipe, accidentally set the house fire that killed seven children, arson investigators said Friday.
Police released the father, Leroy Lyons and Shereese Williams, mother of six of the children, Friday after questioning the pair about why they left the children alone locked in the house where they died Wednesday.
Lyons is believed to have set fire to newspapers in the crawl space under the house in an attempt to thaw the pipes.
