Your story “Council Candidates in Valley Denounce Illegal Immigration” (Times Valley Edition, March 3) was edited in a way that indicates that illegal immigration was the chief topic of discussion by candidates for mayor and the 7th Council District at the March 1 meeting in Lake View Terrace.
In truth, the meeting lasted more than three hours, during which the topics of fiscal responsibility of the council and the mayor, protection of the streets, homes, business places and schools in the city and community empowerment were the chief topics.
The question of illegal immigration was only a small part of the entire evening’s business. It is regrettable that it was the one point The Times chose to emphasize.
