Ugly Sittin’ Pretty

Ugly Kid Joe’s first full album, “America’s Least Wanted,” which followed its smash hit EP, initially seemed like it wouldn’t have any legs and would die after a month or so--particularly since it’s not the Seattle sound. But the album, which came out last September, has been a steady seller ever since, lately boosted by the national hit single “Cat’s in the Cradle.” The album is No. 4 on the Times’ Southern California hard-rock chart, which continues to be dominated by Pearl Jam’s “Ten,” with Stone Temple Pilots’ debut album “Core” not far behind and Alice in Chains’ “Dirt” in third.
