BASEBALL ROUNDUP : Chacon HR Lifts Lincoln to 5-4 Win Over Hollywood

Carlos Chacon’s solo home run in the seventh inning lifted the Lincoln Tigers to a 5-4 victory Thursday over visiting Hollywood at Rose Hill Park.
The junior catcher hit the first pitch of the seventh to deep center field and broke a 4-4 tie.
Chacon’s game-winning hit was set up by a five-hit, four-run rally in the sixth inning. Ruben Castellanos, Eddie Chavez and Peter Cervantes had consecutive singles to lead off the inning and scored on back-to-back doubles by Cesar Castenada and Gilbert Vargas. Vargas’ double to deep left field scored Castenada from second to tie the score at 4-4.
The Sheiks tried to stop Lincoln’s rally by inserting shortstop Marvin Cobos as a pitcher. Cobos used his fastball to get the first batter to ground out and struck out the next two to end the threat. But Cobos’ only pitch in the seventh, another fastball, was slammed out of the park by Chacon.
Lincoln starting pitcher Abel Villanado had seven strike outs. He gave up four runs on seven hits and two walks in six innings.
