Villanova won the 6,000-meter relay at the 99th annual Penn Relays at Philadelphia when favorite Arkansas dropped the baton on the third-leg straightaway.
Villanova beat Wisconsin to the tape by about 10 meters, with Providence third and Arkansas fourth. Villanova’s winning time was 15:00.23.
In other action, Florida’s Dedric Jones, Lewis Lacy, Stephen Adderly and Scott Peters upset defending champion Villanova in the 3,200-meter relay with a 7:14.34.
The Villanova women won their second major relay in the 3,200, running 8:30.76.
