Looking for a Mate? Well, What About Me?

In regards to “The Marriage Gap” (March 28), I have a few heartfelt responses--one being the fantasy of black women that the ideal man has to be college educated, handsome, over 6 feet tall and have a fantastic job.
I have dated women of different ethnicity only after years of being turned away for not meeting some women’s expectations. The funny thing about this is while I’m out with other races, my own women look at me with disdain. I make a comfortable living, almost meet the height requirement. What could allow me to make the cut?
Most women my age (32) have previously married or have children. This has not affected my hope of finding a future partner. There are plenty of women who finally retreat from the fantasy and try to latch on to the next best thing. I don’t want to be that, but if I want to be with a black woman we both have to make adjustments.
