Caleb Kemp, a 5-foot-11, 245-pound offensive lineman from Los Alamitos, will attend Golden West College and play football next season, he said Wednesday.
Kemp, a Times’ all-county first-team selection, helped the Griffins win a Division II Southern Section co-championship last season.
Freestyle swimmer Linda Levitan will sign a letter of intent with Rutgers, Marina Coach Dave Pickford said Tuesday.
Levitan, a Southern Section Division I finalist in the 100 freestyle last season, also swam on the Vikings’ high school All-American 200 medley relay team.
Mission Viejo swim Coach Mike Pelton got hoarse cheering for his horse Friday, a day before the Mission Viejo Swim Invitational.
In the fourth race Friday at Hollywood Park, the Pelton-owned Wine ‘N Shine, in its maiden race, came from last in the field with an eighth of a mile to go and finished third.
On Saturday, none of Pelton’s swimmers were that far behind, as the Diablos won the girls’ and boys’ divisions of the meet.
