I read with interest your article (April 12) on the MWD reservoir project in the Domenigoni Valley. I was especially happy to see that it included comments from the Native American community.
In my capacity as executive secretary of the Native American Heritage Commission, I met with officials of MWD to discuss this project and its impact on the cultural resources of the Luiseno and Cahuilla Indians of California. I was impressed with the sensitive and thorough manner in which MWD has approached this project with Native Americans. It was obvious to me that MWD has made a commitment to work with the tribes to preserve and protect their cultural resources.
