Regarding Patt Morrison’s April 4 column, “Don’t (Jay)walk”: Years ago, our son and a friend crossed Hawthorne Boulevard with the green light but without the walk sign. They were ticketed by an officer decked out in reflecting sunglasses.
We parents had to go to court and pay a fine--to what purpose? As Morrison says, when kids are being shot on their own sidewalks, how heinous a crime can it be to jaywalk?
