The Master’s College rallied for single runs in each of the last three innings but saw its season come to an end in a 4-3 loss to Southern California College on Friday in the second round of the National Assn. of Intercollegiate Athletics District 3 baseball tournament at Azusa Pacific.
The Mustangs (28-22), who lost to Azusa Pacific, 7-5, a day earlier, stranded four runners in the last two innings.
They scored in the top of the eighth on Jayme Riggio’s two-out double that drove in Daren Brebes.
But with runners on second and third, Kevin Backes struck out to end the inning.
In the ninth, Joe Pence hit a one-out, bases-empty home run.
With two out, Jeff Tomlinson singled and Brebes walked but the next batter struck out to end the game.
