COMMUNITY COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Bishop’s 11th Shutout Gives OCC Victory

Jill Bishop pitched her 11th shutout as Orange Coast beat Antelope Valley, 3-0, in a Southern California playoff softball game Friday at Antelope Valley.
Nicole Shammus had two hits and drove in two runs and Becky Elcock had three hits. Orange Coast plays at 2 p.m. today in the championship game.
Stephani Rogers had three hits and drove in three runs as OCC beat College of the Desert, 4-1, in the first round Friday.
In other regional softball:
Fullerton 1, Long Beach 0--Angie Guerrero doubled to right center, driving in Alicia Robles in the first for Fullerton (32-14) at Long Beach. Guerrero (15-6) also pitched a two-hitter for Fullerton, which had beaten Chaffey, 11-6, earlier Friday.
The Hornets advanced to today’s championship game at 2 p.m.
Cypress 2, College of the Canyons 1 (10 innings)--Kristi Richerson singled with two outs and the bases loaded in the 10th inning for host Cypress (46-18). The Chargers had beaten Bakersfield, 3-2, in 11 innings Friday. Kerry Moloney’s RBI single in the 11th was the game-winner against Bakersfield.
In the State tennis championships:
Saddleback team advances--Erik Berg and Jeremy Driscoll of Saddleback advanced to today’s semifinals by winning twice.
