SCC Eliminated From NAIA Playoffs

Azusa Pacific defeated Southern California College, 4-1, eliminating the Vanguards from the NAIA District 3 baseball playoffs Friday at Azusa Pacific.
SCC (29-24) had beaten The Master’s College, 4-3, Friday morning to advance to the afternoon game against Azusa Pacific. The Vanguards were held to only two hits, including an RBI double by Ted Wieczorek in the sixth inning, against the Cougars.
Azusa Pacific (35-8-1), ranked No. 5 in the NAIA, advances to the title game against Point Loma Nazarene at 11 a.m. today. The Cougars must win twice to win their third consecutive District 3 title.
Against The Master’s, Albert Contrera hit a two-run home run in the sixth to give SCC at 4-0 lead.
