Girl Scouts Offer Series of Day Camps
The San Fernando Valley Girl Scout Council will offer six summer day camps for 5- to 15-year-old girls. The five-day camps “are an excellent way to meet new friends, as well as have a chance to get introduced to Girl Scouts programs,” spokeswoman Shelley Mammill Stern said.
Girls become registered as scouts by participating, if they are not already part of the organization. The camps include:
* Folk arts and crafts, outdoor cooking and Girl Scout songs and traditions at the “In the Cool of the Night” camp. July 5-9, 2 to 8 p.m., at Chumash Park in Agoura; $40 for registered Girl Scouts, $46 for non-scouts.
* More crafts at the “Summmer Magic” camp. July 12-16, 2 to 7 p.m., at Chatsworth Park South; $40 for Girl Scouts, $46 for non-scouts.
* Learn magic tricks at the “Magic in the Park” camp. July 19-23, 2 to 8 p.m., at Reseda Park; $32 for Girl Scouts, $38 for non-scouts.
* Singing, dancing, crafts and games at “Twilight Enchantment” camp. July 26-30, 1 to 8 p.m. (9 p.m. Friday), at Studio City Park; $50 for Girl Scouts, $56 for non-scouts.
* Career exploration and outdoor cooking at “Today’s Dreams . . . Tomorrow’s Technologies” camp. July 26-30, 2 to 8 p.m., in Burbank (site to be announced); $35 for Girl Scouts, $41 for non-scouts.
* Historical hikes and arts, crafts and games from the past at “Heritage Hunt” camp. Aug. 2-6, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., (site to be announced); $30 for Girl Scouts, $36 for non-scouts.
