Pilots Strike Averted at British Airways: The airline and the British Air Line Pilots Assn. reached agreement on a cost-cutting plan after the pilots had voted 5 to 1 in favor of strike action over working conditions at a new BA subsidiary at Gatwick Airport, south of London. The statement said the agreement was reached after extensive negotiations, was endorsed by the BALPA council and will be strongly recommended for acceptance by BA pilots.
