The City Council this week unanimously approved the appointment of Linda Dixon to fill a vacant seat on the Planning Commission.
Dixon served on the city Transportation Commission from 1987 until its recent abolition by the council in a move to trim the budget.
Dixon will fill the unexpired term of Clarence (Chick) Clarke, who died in June of a heart attack. Her term will run until February, 1995.
Twelve residents had applied for the opening, which was filled by the council Monday night during a special meeting.
Dixon, a sales manager, lives in Costa Mesa with her husband, Mike, and their three children.
