STANTON — A 14-year-old boy was shot dead in front of his home Friday night in a gang fight that began as a verbal spat between two teen-agers, police said Saturday.
Christopher Louis Vargas died of a gunshot wound to the abdomen after the 9:22 p.m. shooting on the 9100 block of Pacific Avenue, Orange County Sheriff’s Lt. Larry Richey said.
“Two kids got in an argument, one kid left, then he came back with a bunch of his buddies,” Richey said. “One kid pulled a gun, shot another one in the stomach, and they all ran away.”
Police suspect a male, age 14 to 16, pulled the trigger of the small-caliber handgun that killed Vargas. He said seven or eight other teen-age boys were at the scene during the shooting.
