San Clemente Rolls to Win Over Crawford

SAN CLEMENTE — San Clemente’s Allan Vaughan rushed for 206 yards and three touchdowns, leading the Tritons to a 50-22 victory Friday night over San Diego Crawford.
Vaughan scored on carries of five yards, three yards and one yard and was the team’s leading receiver, with four catches for 48 yards.
Triton quarterback Geoff Buffum threw two second-quarter touchdown passes to Dylan Newman for 24 yards and another for nine yards.
Buffum finished the game, completing seven of 12 passes for 86 yards.
San Clemente’s defense was led by Rob Oveson, who recovered two fumbled punts in the end zone for touchdowns, while Brian Mauga and Scott Karnes combined for five quarterback sacks.
Crawford (0-1) did not gain a single yard rushing in 17 attempts.
Crawford opened the game with a 92-yard kickoff return for a touchdown. But San Clemente (1-0) answered with a seven-play, 60-yard scoring drive that ended in a five-yard touchdown run by Vaughan.
San Clemente scored its last points following a bad snap by Crawford center Eric Redding, who snapped the ball over the head of Rob Wadas. Oveson recovered the ball in the end zone.
