Venegas, McConnell Win Speedway Pairs

COSTA MESA — Charlie Venegas of Costa Mesa and Shawn McConnell of Brea won the Best Pairs competition of the weekly speedway motorcycle racing program in front of 4,856 at the Orange County Fairgrounds.
The pair finished with 24 points, beating Mike Faria of Colton and Don Odom of Redondo Beach, who had 22 points.
Sunny Nutter of Topanga Canyon defeated Steve Columbo of Ontario in the legends final.
