Super-Jumbo Jet Said to Be Feasible: Boeing Co. and its counterparts in Europe have found “no insurmountable obstacles” to building a jet with up to 700 seats, a Boeing official said. High-ranking Boeing executives met over the weekend in Seville, Spain, with the four partners of the Airbus Industrie consortium--France’s Aerospatiale, British Aerospace, CASA of Spain and Germany’s Deutsche Aerospace--to study the construction of a plane larger than Boeing’s 747. A Boeing spokesman said that if such a plane were built, the project would be set up as a joint venture, with Boeing holding 50% and the four European companies sharing the rest. The new jetliner could go into service by the end of the century and would have a range of about 7,000 miles, making it ideal for long-haul flights such as New York to Tokyo, the spokesman said.
