Key Northridge Basketball Recruit to Miss Season

Ruben Oronoz, a key Cal State Northridge basketball recruit, will have surgery for a herniated disk Monday and is lost for the season, assistant coach Mike Johnson said Wednesday.
Oronoz, a 6-foot-7 swingman, led Rancho Santiago in scoring last season with an average of 16.7 points a game.
Golf
Two more golf kingpins have been added to the field for the Shark Shootout at Lake Sherwood Country Club in Thousand Oaks.
The old and new guard, Arnold Palmer and John Daly, will play in the charity event Nov. 16-21, which is sponsored by Greg Norman.
Nick Price and eight members of the victorious U.S. Ryder Cup team already have committed to play in the event, which pits two-man teams against one another in alternate-shot, best-ball and scramble formats.

Baseball
Former area high school standouts Dan Cey, Casey Snow and Trevor Leppard are among 64 college baseball players invited to participate in the National Baseball Trials, Nov. 3-7 in Homestead, Fla.
The trials, which include mostly college freshman and sophomores, are designed to select players play for Team USA and eventually the Olympic team.
Cey played shortstop at El Camino Real High and is a freshman at California.
Snow attended Crespi and is a freshman catcher at Cal State Long Beach.
Leppard was a right-handed pitcher for Simi Valley and is a freshman at San Diego.
