United Airlines May Dismantle: If negotiations to sell the airline to its employees fail, United Airlines has drawn up documents laying out a proposal to dismantle the company and split it into five companies, according to the Washington Post. Prepared by United’s investment advisers and top management, the plan calls for dividing into a “long-route” carrier and four regional airlines. But the newspaper said the plan is sure to meet vehement opposition from labor unions. United is in talks with the unions about selling them a majority stake in the airline.
