Priorities

* Two recent stories provided a graphic illustration of our society’s priorities:

* Against a rising tide of tuberculosis cases, a dedicated gentleman delivers medication to Los Angeles street people. His salary: $22,000 per year (Oct. 24).

* A professional athlete is fined $112,000 (Oct. 20) for missing one day’s game--enough to place five more people on the street at $22,000 a year to stem the tuberculosis epidemic.
