NEWPORT BEACH — The Newport-Mesa Unified School District needs volunteers for its Citizens Budget Advisory Committee.
The 14-member panel, which was set up last year to scrutinize district budget allocations and advise officials about community concerns, has eight vacancies. The district board plans to fill those openings at its Nov. 23 meeting.
In the coming year, the panel plans to meet once or twice monthly and also meet with various parent-teacher associations at local schools, according to Michael Fine, the district budget analyst. Each position carries a two-year commitment.
Applicants should state their qualifications and interest in a one-page letter to the Newport-Mesa school district. Letters must be postmarked by Nov. 19. The district address is: Citizens Budget Advisory Committee, 1601 16th St., Newport Beach, Calif. 92663.
