High-Concept Fund-Raiser: Developer Gary Brinderson is opening his Laguna Beach custom home-sites project, Smithcliffs, to charity this weekend, using the property as the site of a $10-a-person fund-raiser for the Laguna Art Museum.
Smithcliffs, on a promontory between fire-ravaged Emerald Bay and the rest of Laguna Beach, wasn’t hit by last month’s devastating wildfire, and Brinderson, long a supporter of the arts in that beachside community, has decided to use his good fortune to benefit artists whose studio spaces were destroyed.
So Brinderson is asking those attending the Western-themed art museum party to add a donation to their ticket price. All funds in excess of the $10 fee will be donated to the Laguna Artists Studio Fire Relief Fund.
