HUNTINGTON BEACH : Driver Checkpoint to Operate Saturday

Police will set up a checkpoint Saturday night to take drunk drivers off the road and raise safety awareness.
Northbound cars will be stopped on Brookhurst Avenue north of Hamilton Avenue from 9 p.m. Saturday to 2 a.m. Sunday for a safety check of the car, the driver or both, said Officer Michael Corcoran.
Officers will make random stops of cars at that location. It is one of 20 places selected for periodic checkpoints by the Police Department because of a high number of traffic accidents, Corcoran said.
