YEAR: Junior
SEASON AT A GLANCE: Although Skieresz won her second consecutive Division I title in the Southern Section championships at Mt. San Antonio College on Saturday, her junior season has not been easy. She didn’t run for much of October because of an ear infection and flu. Nonetheless, she has won the Ventura County, Marmonte League and section championships this month and hopes to cap November with her first state championship at Fresno’s Woodward Park on Saturday.
WEEK AT A GLANCE: After missing the section preliminaries Nov. 13 to attend her sister’s wedding in Las Vegas, Skieresz ran 17 minutes 51 seconds over Mt. SAC’s three-mile course to lead Agoura to its fourth consecutive Division I and seventh consecutive divisional title. Her winning time was 27 seconds off her personal best on the Mt. SAC course, but Skieresz said the victory was, “very satisfying” because of the illnesses she’s had to overcome. “I feel like I’m 100%,” she said. “Obviously, my times aren’t 100% yet, but I felt good, which is a good sign.”
