Highlights
Michaela Ross (21 points, 7.6 rebounds) helped Newport Harbor to its first title. The Sailors tied Woodbridge, which won or shared its eighth title in 10 years. . . . Third-seeded Woodbridge was upset in the II-AA quarterfinals, 46-44, by Cerritos Gahr. No. 4 Newport Harbor lost in the III-AA semifinals to Inglewood Morningside, 61-57, despite Ross’ 33 points.. . . Ross and Corona del Mar’s Mollie Flint, the county’s scoring leader (27.9 points), shared MVP honors. . . . Corona del Mar’s one-game playoff loss to Tustin for an automatic playoff berth left them out of the IV-AA playoffs. The Sea Kings had more victories than nine of the division’s 16 playoff teams.
