Fields Set for Saugus, Nordhoff Boys’ Basketball Tournaments

The fields are set for two boys’ basketball tournaments.
The Saugus High tournament will start Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. Antelope Valley will face Glendale in the first game, followed by Victor Valley-La Canada, Canyon-Quartz Hill and Sylmar-Saugus.
The Nordhoff High tournament will open Thursday at 3:30 p.m. Newbury Park will play Oak Park, followed by Santa Paula-Channel Islands, Ventura-South Pasadena and Santa Maria-Nordhoff.
The Saugus tournament is a four-day event with the championship game at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 4. The Nordhoff tournament will last three days with the championship game at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 4.
College Soccer
Senior forward Ezequiel Bongarra of The Master’s College men’s soccer team has been named NAIA District 3 player of the year. Bongarra scored a district-high 44 points to lead the Mustangs to their fifth consecutive national championship appearance.
Also listed as first team-selections for The Master’s were junior midfielder Paul Smith and senior defender Harlan Slind. Smith was fourth in the district in scoring with 26 points.
