The police department will conduct a sobriety checkpoint beginning at 9 p.m. Friday.
Location of the checkpoint will not be announced, police officials said.
Checkpoints, funded by grants from the California Office of Traffic Safety, are conducted periodically and are intended to remove drunk drivers from the road and heighten public awareness about the problem.
The checkpoint will display a demolished police car that was recently struck head-on by a drunk driver.
