Watts Ranked 4th in World in 400; Noel 10th in U.S.

Quincy Watts of Nike International is ranked fourth in the world in the 400 meters, and Garrett Noel of Cal State Northridge is 10th in the U.S. in the javelin in Track & Field News men’s rankings for the 1993 season.
Watts, a three-time state champion at Taft High, finished fourth in the 400 in the world championships in Stuttgart, Germany, in August and had a season best of 44.13 seconds.
In 1992, he won the Olympic title with a personal best of 43.50, the second-fastest time in history.
Noel raised the Northridge javelin record to 247 feet as a senior and finished ninth in the NCAA and 12th in the USA track and field championships in June.
Soccer
Roberto Perez of Burroughs High was named to the National Soccer Coaches Assn. of America/Umbro All-American team.
Perez had 23 goals and 15 assists last season and was an All-Southern Section Division III pick.
Soccer News magazine has listed Perez as one of the nation’s top 125 high school seniors. Perez will be honored for the NSCAA/Umbro selection in January at a coaches’ convention in Santa Clara.
Cycling
The Pro Forma time trials, sponsored by the United States Cycling Federation, is scheduled for Dec. 26 at 9 a.m. at Piru, just off Highway 126 northwest of Magic Mountain in Valencia. The event is open to males and females of all ages.

Baseball
The Van Nuys/Sherman Oaks Babe Ruth Baseball League will be holding sign-ups for the 1994 season on Sunday at Notre Dame High from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The league is for players ages 13 to 15 as of July 31, 1994.
