OXNARD : DWV Office to Cut Hours 4 Days a Week

Beginning Monday, the Oxnard office of the state Department of Motor Vehicles will close half an hour earlier four days a week, opening from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Wednesdays and Fridays. Thursday hours will remain 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Despite the cutback, the Oxnard office is still open an hour later than most other DMV offices in Ventura County on weekdays except Thursday.
The Simi Valley office will remain open until 7 p.m. Thursdays, but will otherwise maintain 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. hours other days of the week.
The changes were ordered after an analysis begun by the Oxnard office in July, 1990, said Kathy Corona, a DMV operations officer.
“We found that customer demand from 6 to 6:30 p.m. was practically nil,” Corona said. “The period was not even near being cost-effective.”
Corona said customers are still urged to make appointments at their local DMV office.
