BOYS’ BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : Cotton, McKnight, Simon Lead Mater Dei Past Savanna

Freshman Schea Cotton had 28 points and 15 rebounds to lead No. 1 Mater Dei over Savanna, 84-51, in nonleague action at UC Irvine’s Bren Center.
Miles Simon, who broke a school record Friday night with 15 assists, had 12 Saturday along with 14 points.
Clay McKnight hit four three-pointers for the Monarchs to finish with 16 points and Shaun Jackson added 13 points and 10 rebounds. Mater Dei remains undefeated at 19-0 and 3-0 in the South Coast League.
In the Olympic League:
Cerritos Valley Christian 58, Brethren Christian 46--Steve DeGraaf scored a game-high 22 points for Valley Christian (5-11, 2-3). Lance Williams added 15. Richard Mendoza led Brethren Christian with 13 points. Brethren Christian is 10-6 and 2-2.
Calvary Chapel 63, Orange Lutheran 60--With one second remaining, Ryan Elliot made two free throws to give Calvary Chapel (9-9, 3-1) the victory. Isaac Lesau scored with 20 seconds remaining to put Calvary Chapel ahead, 61-59. Orange Lutheran had a chance to regain the lead when Tom Howard was fouled behind the three-point line, but he converted only one of three free throws. Kevin Falconer led both teams with 15 points for Calvary Chapel. Jason Chedotte added 14. Orange Lutheran is 1-13, 0-4.
Whittier Christian 71, Ontario Christian 67--Kwadwo Boachie had 19 points, eight assists and six steals and Tyler Ream added 19 points and 10 rebounds for Whittier Christian (14-2, 5-0). Harlan Miersma had 22 points for Ontario Christian.
