The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman (KABC Sunday at 1 p.m.), a landmark 1974 TV movie, stars Cicely Tyson as a 110-year-old ex-slave whose life spans the Civil War to the dawn of the civil rights movement. Directed by John Korty from Tracy Keenan Wynn’s adaptation of the Ernest J. Gaines novel.
Homicide (TMC Sunday at 3:20 a.m.) is an engrossing 1991 David Mamet film in which Joe Mantegna stars as a big-city detective, a Jew unexpectedly thrust into a quest for personal and cultural identity.
Light Sleeper (HBO Wednesday at 2 a.m.) is Paul Schrader’s meditative saga of a drug runner’s inevitable collision with fate. Willem Dafoe and Susan Sarandon star.
Turtle Diary (Bravo Friday at 8 p.m., Saturday at 10 a.m.), a funny, lyrical and unexpected 1985 film, stars Glenda Jackson and Ben Kingsley as two independent, self-reliant people who meet while watching three sea turtles swimming their endless laps in a cramped tank at the London aquarium.
