Superior Industries’ Profit Up 36% in 4th Quarter

Superior Industries International Inc., a Van Nuys supplier of cast aluminum wheels to auto manufacturers, reported strong earnings gains for its fourth quarter and year that ended Dec. 31. It attributed the increases to growth in passenger and light trucks, expanding market share and operating efficiencies.
The company’s fourth-quarter profit was $12.6 million, up 36% from $9.24 million in net income a year earlier. Its revenue rose 14%, to $105.2 million from $92.7 million.
For the full year, Superior’s earnings jumped 58% to $45.2 million from $28.6 million in 1992. Its annual revenue in 1993 was $393 million, a 20% gain from $325.3 million in the previous year.
