Semillon, called by Mike Mitchell the best horse he has ever trained, will be sent after his third consecutive U.S. victory in the $82,200 San Marino Handicap at Santa Anita today.
After making his first 13 starts in Europe, the 4-year-old Rousillon colt came to Mitchell late last year and has responded with two victories at Santa Anita. Eddie Delahoussaye will again ride Semillon, the 8-5 morning-line favorite in the 1 1/4-mile race.
Itsallgreektome, who came off a 14-month layoff to run second in an allowance race last month, is the 5-2 second choice. The 7-year-old gelding, now trained by Bob Hess, will be ridden by Kent Desormeaux and carry 120 pounds, four more than the favorite.
