Mentally tough athletes not only view stress as a challenge but also thrive on successfully overcoming pressure (“Comeback Man,” by Pat Jordan, Feb. 13). The comeback attempts of previous Olympic stars Brian Boitano and Katarina Witt--like Michael Jordan’s flirtation with a career as a major-league baseball player--are testimony that top performers revel in the “flow” of a peak performance and often try to create new challenges for themselves.
