GRANADA HILLS : Simi Freeway Work Shifts to West Lanes

Westbound traffic on the Simi Valley Freeway in Granada Hills will shift to the eastbound lanes starting Sunday night or Monday night as construction begins on the westbound lanes, Caltrans said.
Traffic returned to the eastbound lanes Friday after Fontana-based Brutoco Engineering & Construction finished rebuilding that side of the bridges at San Fernando Mission Boulevard and Bull Creek.
The bridges had crumbled in the Northridge earthquake.
Caltrans spokesman Russell Snyder said San Diego-based contractor F.C.I. Constructors has 110 days to finish rebuilding the westbound bridges. During construction, the freeway will remain six lanes wide, three in each direction.
The project is expected to cost about $9.6 million. Rebuilding the east side of the bridges cost $9.7 million.
