Italy’s Government Passes Last Hurdle

ROME — The conservative government of Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi easily passed its last hurdle to governing on Friday, winning a vote of confidence in the lower house of Parliament.
The coalition won by a 366-245 vote in the Chamber of Deputies, where it enjoys a wide majority. Victory came harder on Wednesday in the Senate, where the coalition has just short of a majority, and won by a 159-153 vote.
“Let’s get to work,” a smiling Berlusconi said after the evening vote. “We have a Cabinet meeting.”
