KFC to Invest $200 Million in China: The Pepsico Inc. subsidiary plans to build 172 restaurants in China over the next four years. KFC, which already has 28 restaurants in nine Chinese cities, said it plans to have 200 restaurants in 45 cities by 1998. It expects the restaurants to generate sales of more than $350 million and employ 20,000 people. The news comes a day after President Clinton renewed China’s most-favored-nation trade status, saying human rights should not be linked with trade policy.
