Two 16-year-olds from Camarillo were arrested and charged with attempted armed robbery early Friday after approaching two skateboarders and demanding money, police said.
At 11 p.m. Thursday, two juveniles driving a Cadillac pulled up next to two 20-year-old men skateboarding near Santa Rosa Road and Verdugo Way, and asked for their money while brandishing a revolver, according to Ventura County Sheriff’s Sgt. Mike Barnes.
The skateboarders told them that they had no money, and the youths drove away empty-handed. The skateboarders memorized the car’s license plate and called 911.
Police found the abandoned Cadillac less than a mile away and traced the youths by contacting its owner.
They were arrested a few hours later.
