SOUTHERN SECTION BASEBALL ROUNDUP : Calvary Chapel Scores Four Runs in Sixth to Win

Down by one run going into the bottom of the sixth inning, Calvary Chapel scored four runs to take the lead and defeat visiting Coast Union, 8-5, in a quarterfinal Division V baseball game Friday at Orange Coast College.
Alex Okland’s sixth-inning RBI single proved to be the pivotal play that started the Eagles’ four-run rally.
Calvary Chapel (19-8) scored its other runs on RBI singles by Jerry Quenzler, Joe Jones and Chance King.
Pitcher J.J. Sandkamp was able to shut down Coast Union after he entered in the third inning to relieve Matt Herr. Cody Hamilton took over in the sixth inning and finished the game without giving up a hit.
The Eagles will play Big Bear in a semifinal Tuesday at a site to be determined.
In another Division V game:
Big Bear 9, Whittier Christian 8--The Heralds ended the season against host Big Bear with a 17-9 record.
In Division VI:
Downey Calvary Chapel 8, St. Margaret’s 2--The Grizzles completely dominated St. Margaret’s, which finishes the season at 19-2.
