WEST HILLS — Although UCLA-bound Josh Morton hit his second home run in as many American Legion District 20 games, and despite the temporary presence of University of California freshman standout Keith Evans, visiting Las Virgenes still fell, 3-1, to West Hills Thursday.
Evans (0-1), who is leaving Saturday to play in a Cape Cod summer league, gave up three runs on seven hits in five innings, striking out six and walking two before giving way to Morton, who recorded two strikeouts and a walk in one hitless inning of work.
West Hills (2-0) was paced by Brandon Gray (two for three, one run batted in, one run scored) and Kevin Lohman (two for two, one run scored), while Kevin Sass added a double for Las Virgenes (1-1).
