Kennedy Pursues Gym Plans

Kennedy High is pursuing plans to build a new gymnasium within the next few years to replace the old gym that was damaged by the Northridge earthquake in January.

Funding for the new gym is expected to come from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, assistant principal Pete Fries said. Meanwhile, repairs to the old gym are scheduled to be completed by early August.

“It’s all talk right now; nothing is set in stone or cement,” Fries said.

“We’re looking at about a two-year process. Requests have gone to FEMA and the (Los Angeles Unified School District.)”
